Benefits of a template
Using TAGGRS (GTM) templates that can be easily imported and used offers several benefits for managing tracking and analytics on websites and mobile apps. These benefits include:
- Saving time: GTM templates provide ready-made solutions for common tracking needs, such as tracking clicks, form submissions, and eCommerce transactions. This saves time when setting up tracking because you don't have to start from scratch setting up each tag.
- Created by experts: The TAGGRS Templates are created by Server Side Tracking experts. As a result, the templates are functional and reliable. Furthermore, they are also aligned with the latest industry trends and best practices. This provides users with access to high-quality tracking solutions.
- Ease of use: The templates are designed to be user-friendly, even for those without in-depth technical knowledge. You can set up tracking functionality by filling in simple configuration options without having to dive directly into the code. We offer videos and blogs explaining exactly how to configure everything.
- Best Practices: Templates are often developed with best practices in mind, both in terms of tracking accuracy and website performance. This means that by using templates, you can take advantage of advanced configurations created by experts.
- Consistency: By using templates, you can ensure consistency in tracking across multiple Web sites or applications. This is especially useful for organizations that manage multiple brands or products and want to ensure uniform data collection.
- Flexibility: You can take an existing template as a starting point and adapt it to your specific tracking needs.
- Privacy compliance: Some templates are specifically designed to help with privacy compliance such as GDPR and CCPA by providing features to manage cookie consent and data collection. For example, we have a template for Consent Mode V2 configuration.

Download, Import and Use a TAGGRS Template
Downloading, importing and using a TAGGRS Template is a simple process that allows you to quickly and efficiently implement server side tracking on your website. Here are the steps to follow:
- Create a TAGGRS account
- Go to Template Gallery within the Dashboard
- Search for the template you want to download
Next, there are 2 options to access:
1. Download your Desired Template in JSON which you can then import back into your own Google Tag Manager Container.
2. Add your mail address and you will be added in the latest version. Note that your mail address will be visible to other users.
Editing an imported template
Once a tag or variable template is imported from the gallery, you can export the Template and import it into your own GTM container: when you do this everything is ready for you right away, you only need to change a few settings yourself. You can also easily copy Tags and Trigger for your own setup with the TAGGRS GTM Copy Paste tool.
Pause or remove unused tags
It is important to make sure that all tags and triggers that are not being used are removed or paused. That way you avoid configuration errors. For example, our templates have the Cookiebot tag built in. If you are not using Cookiebot, leaving this tag on can result in no more data coming in.
Adding variables
After the unnecessary tags are paused or removed, enter the required codes for the different platforms you need in the Variables section. These codes are then automatically associated with all the tags. Below is an example of how this is done with the TAGGRS Container ID variable.
Test your setup
Once you have configured the web and server container, it is important to test your setup. TAGGRS has written a comprehensive testing roadmap here.
